Using photos on websites and in blogs is important both to generate interest and to convey a message. Using the right image can be critical. Stock photos offer a wide array of images, but for a price. And sometimes they’re not *just right*. Searching the web or photo sharing sites is an alternative, but you always have to make sure that you have permission to use that image.
Creative Commons?licensing?is one way that many people choose to make their photos or graphics available for others to use. It allows the creator, the owner, of the image to stipulate the conditions under which they allow use. If your use fits their requirements, you’re welcome to it. You don’t need to ask permission or sign a license agreement.
Many creators simply ask that they be given credit. A simple nod to their ownership and link to their original work is all they ask. So what’s a good way to do that?
WordPress.com recently made the following suggestion to do just that and I think it looks like an excellent format to get the job done. Properly.
